About 20 years ago, my physician diagnosed me with hypertension, or high blood pressure. While taking blood pressure medication is not fun, I am grateful. I appreciate that this diagnosis forced me to be aware of my health and wellness. As an African American male, I am at a higher risk for a “witches’ brew” of various ailments.
